An excerpt from my book-length work Lyrebird appeared in the spring 2014 issue of Black Warrior Review, as the nonfiction contest prizewinner. The manuscript in its entirety has also been named a finalist for both the 2017 Noemi Press Book Award and the 2017 Tarpaulin Sky Book Prize, selected by Bhanu Kapil.
Jenny Boully, judge of Black Warrior Review's nonfiction contest writes:
"(Lyrebird) slowly circles its heartbreak through understatement, poetic revelation, imagistic accord. It admits to its shortcomings gracefully, knows there is no way to write what cannot be undone. Lyrebird is a deeply affecting gathering, a nest, an accumulation of the fragments of what could have been."
I am currently in the process of seeking representation for the full-length manuscript. For sample chapters, please email Meredith@MeredithClark.net
